Art Deco Tea Set
Welcome to Katy Potts – home for Beautiful English teaware, old and new!
Among our items (teapots and tea sets) are a mix of our own range (designed by us and made in the Staffordshire Potteries) as well as two vintage ranges, Tea for Two and Mixety Matchety.
Whichever range you look at the influence of Art Deco is easy to spot!
Mixety Matchety – the perfectly mismatched larger vintage tea sets are a combination of several tea set designs. See, Edwin which is made up of several very geometric art deco tea sets. Also in the range are more floral items, which, while not art deco tea sets in the strictest sense, were certainly heavily influenced by them, with the bold bright colours and impressionist interpretations of flowers rather than naturalistic ones of the Edwardian period.
Our Tea for Two range however, is for the traditionalist. See Whilma or Trudy for matching art deco tea sets straight from the 1920s with the often used black and orange emamelling and the iconic geometric shapes and patterns. .
Within our own range too, the Flora Dora teapot is an archetypal deco shape, accentuated by the skilfully applied colour banding, found so commonly in the art deco tea sets and art deco teapots produced of the era. We have given Flora Dora a bright modern take on the hollyhock design. Also like the art deco tea sets, we put much detail our pieces with skilfully applied hand enamelled finishing touches.
We hope you enjoy exploring our site, should you have any questions regarding any of the items you see here please do not hesitate to contact us on customerservices@katypotts.com.
